Whitney Cummings' new NBC series "Whitney" landed in the Thursday night timeslot after "The Office" and earned decent ratings during its September 22 premiere.

Both "Whitney" and the newly Steve Carell-less "Office" were down 11 percent in ratings , earning 6.7 million and 7.6 million viewers respectively. The network's other comedy strong-holds, "Community" and "Parks and Recreation" didn't fair so well, with just 4 million and 4.1 million viewers respectively.

"Outsourced," which previously occupied "Whitney"'s timeslot, was cancelled after one season.

"Whitney" follows the Whitney and her live-in boyfriend Alex (Chris D'Elia) who try to demonstrate that they are happy living together without the institution of marriage.

Cummings has appeared as a comedienne on Chelsea Handler's "Chelsea Lately" round table. She also co-created the new CBS series "2 Broke Girls" with Michael Patrick King.

"The Office" saw a shake-up with Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott (Carell) leaving and James Spader joining the cast as CEO of Sabre, the parent company of Dunder Mifflin. Scott's replacement was also announced in the premiere.

Despite "Community"'s vocal fan base, the series lost 23 percent of their viewers while "Parks and Recreation" was down a whopping 38 percent.

Thursday's strongest player was CBS' on-hour "Big Bang Theory," which brought in 14.1 million viewers, similar to last fall's premiere numbers. The new J.J. Abram's thriller, "Person of Interest" was also popular, with 13.2 million viewers.

ABC's "Charlie's Angels" revamp had a decent premiere, with 8.7 million viewers and FOX's "The X Factor" remained steady, but not ahead of "American Idol," with 12.5 million viewers.

As the fall series continue to premiere, "Two and a Half Men" is holding strong in its ratings after earning 28.7 million viewers in its debut, which is twice as high as last year's premiere.
