Santa Monica random assault suspects sought

SANTA MONICA, Calif.

Police said he was attacked by two men early Thursday morning in the 3100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard.

Surveillance video taken from a nearby business does not show the brutal attack, but police said it does show the two suspects walking away from a sports bar at around 2 a.m.

About 15 minutes later, the two men were seen returning in the direction of the victim, then running away.

Officers said the victim works in the movie business, has odd hours and was out exercising.

"A random attack, it's not for a robbery. They're trying to figure out what the motive was. They do believe the suspects may have come out of the local sports bar, Busby's," said Santa Monica Police Department Sgt. Richard Lewis.

Police are looking for more witnesses or someone who can identify the suspects.
