'Well-Dressed Bandit' behind San Diego-area bank heists

SAN DIEGO

Agents said the man has robbed 10 banks and credit unions in the San Diego area over the past year.

He was named the "Well-Dressed Bandit" because of his taste for classy clothing and luxury cars.

Surveillance video and photos have shown him wearing dark shirts, slacks and sports coats. Witnesses have reported him leaving in a Lexus or Mercedes.

Two days ago, authorities said the suspect robbed a Chase bank in Sorrento Valley.

Investigators said he pretended to have a weapon, demanded money and left with a bag full of cash.

The FBI describes the man as black, in his mid-30s, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds.
