Fresh off Melissa McCarthy's hilarious and emotional Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series for her role on "Mike & Molly," the series kicks off its second season on Monday, September 26.
"Mike & Molly" debuted in 2010. McCarthy plays a school teacher who falls for a police officer, portrayed by Billy Gardell, after meeting him in a weight loss support group.
Last season, Mike and Molly became engaged. When the show returns, the couple begins planning their wedding. A clip of the second season premiere can be seen below.
The show raised controversy last year when a writer for Marie Claire magazine said she would be "grossed out" if she had to watch an overweight couple kissing on a show. She later apologized. Her words angered scores of fans, some of whom organized a "Big Fat Kiss-in" protest, and the show's creator.
Meanwhile, McCarthy is set to host the upcoming episode of "Saturday Night Live" with musical guests Lady Antebellum on October 1. McCarthy co-starred in the hit comedy film "Bridesmaids" with "Saturday Night Live" cast member Kristen Wiig.
