Police impersonator assaults woman in Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif.

A 35-year-old woman was driving a motor scooter on Citrus Ave. at about 10 a.m. Tuesday when she was pulled over by a man driving a white 2004-2006 Ford Taurus 4-door sedan. The vehicle did not display markings or have lights on it.

The driver asked the woman for identification. He was not wearing a uniform, badge or gun. He told the woman he was a police officer and later said he was a police explorer.

The suspect tried to lead the woman to a nearby orange grove, but she refused, according to police.

The suspect then allegedly asked to see the woman's underwear and reached under her dress, according to police. The woman slapped the suspect's hand and rode away from the scene.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned, clean-shaven Hispanic male between 25 and 30 years old wearing small wire-rim eyeglasses, a black button-down short-sleeve shirt and tan chino-style pants.
