Authorities say the pursuit started in the Ontario area at about 1:30 a.m. When the pursuit ended, shots were fired. Police say no one was injured in the shooting.
Two California Highway Patrol cars that were chasing the suspect's vehicle collided in Riverside County, but it was unclear whether anyone was injured.
An investigation forced the closure of southbound lanes of the 15, just south of Railroad Canyon, in Lake Elsinore. All lanes were closed for several hours.
Authorities were able to open all lanes just before 11 a.m.
