The official trailer for "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close," which stars Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks has already sparked internet buzz, following its release on Thursday.
"Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close," which is based on Jonathan Safran Foer's best-selling novel of the same name, follows Oskar (Thomas Horn) who is convinced that his father (Hanks) who died in the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, left a message for him somewhere in the city. While his mother (Bullock) grieves, Oskar sets out to find the lock for a mysterious key he found in his father's closet.
The film was helmed by Stephen Daldry, who was nominated for three Academy Awards for "Billy Elliot," "The Hours" and "The Reader."
Newcomer Thomas Horn, who portrays Oskar in the film was discovered by producer Scott Rudin after the 13-year-old won $31,000 on "Jeopardy!" Kids Week in an episode which aired in July 2010. According to People magazine, the young intellectual is fluent in English and Croatian and has also studied Spanish and Mandarin.
"Within 20 minutes, Thomas and Sandy were roaring with laughter," Director Stephen Daldry told People magazine of Bullock and her on-screen son. "[Sandra] made him feel like he was with one of his best friends... She understood the responsibility with a young actor who had never been in front of a camera before, and handled [the experience] with huge enthusiasm and a sense of humor to relax herself, Thomas and the crew around her."
