Justin Timberlake was named the celebrity host and ambassador at this week's annual Shriners Hospitals for Children pro-am golf tournament and Timberlake plans to raise over $1 million at the event, which is held annually at Las Vegas' TPC Summerlin.
"First and foremost, the reason I am here is because of the Shriners Hospitals," Timberlake told the Las Vegas Sun. "It's mind-blowing to see some of the work the Shriners have done over the years. Every year when we come back, you get to see the benefits of their hard work. It's such a worthy cause and makes you proud to be a part of what we're doing out here."
The event will culminate with the singer's "Old School Jam" event at Planet Hollywood on Saturday, co-hosted by Wayne Brady. Performers will include Earth Wind & Fire, the Commodores, Charlie Wilson, Color Me Badd, Sugar Hill Gang, Sister Sledge, Vanilla Ice and Turbo B.
At last year's "Old School Jam," Timberlake raised an additional $1 million for the cause and according to the Las Vegas Sun, he plans to top that this year.
Timberlake's guests and fellow competitors included George Lopez, Cedric the Entertainer, Marshall Faulk and Bo Jackson. Also spotted at the tournament was Timberlake's ex-girlfriend Jessica Biel, fueling rumors that the couple has reunited.
Timberlake was also spotted out in Toronto, Canada with Biel. The former couple was seen on Sunday, August 28, dining and riding bikes together. Timberlake, 30, and Biel, 29, announced their break-up in a joint statement in March. The two dated for four years.
Timberlake rose to fame as a member of the boy band N'Sync before launching his solo career and has taken home six Grammy Awards and two Emmy Awards. His first two albums each sold over 7 million copies.
Timberlake will next appear opposite Amanda Seyfried in "In Time," which is slated for release on October 28, 2011. Watch a teaser trailer below.
