Ricki Lake says she is "really proud" of her fellow "Dancing With The Stars" contestants, especially after they "put themselves out there" by personalizing their routines.
The 43-year-old television personality and partner Derek Hough, 26, received 27 out of 30 from the judges for their rumba on week three of ABC's hit celebrity ballroom dancing series (read recap). The pair had the highest score of the evening, taking the lead for the second week in a row.
The celebrity performers hit the floor dancing a tribute to their "most memorable year," with Lake choosing the year she allowed herself to love again. Lake had gone through a rough divorce, leaving her as the single mom of two children. On top of that, her house burned down, and she called herself "closed off to life."
"I think everyone has really put themselves out there on the line in this competition, I mean, you look at Chaz, what he's doing, you look at JR, I mean JR, I couldn't even watch the performance - I'd seen it in rehearsal I knew I would be a mess," Lake told OnTheRedCarpet.com after the show. "All of us are working so hard and doing something that we've never done before, and hopefully trying to land on our feet."
The 10 remaining pairs return on Tuesday, October 4 for an elimination episode where the third couple is expected to be eliminated.
"I'm really proud of everyone, we're all doing something that is so not easy to do," Lake added. "You know, by also opening ourselves up personally, it's a big challenge, but I'm very proud of everyone."
