Suspect sought for groping 12-year-old girls

IRVINE, Calif.

At about 3:30 p.m. Monday, two 12-year-old girls walking home from a Quail Hill bus stop were approached by an adult male jogger, according to police.

Police say the man touched one girl, then the other, inappropriately over their clothing. The girls resisted the suspect's attempt at conversation. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. He was also witnessed by a boy in the surrounding residential area.

The suspect was described as a black male between 20 and 26 years old, standing about 6 feet tall, weighing about 180-190 pounds, with brown eyes and black curly hair pulled into a short ponytail. He was described as having a muscular build, wearing a blue "muscle" shirt and black shorts.

The two female victims witnessed the suspect driving away in a small white sports car, with a 6-inch black stripe down its side and a tall rear spoiler about 18 inches high with spoiler tips turned up at both ends.

The Irvine Police Department is asking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information about this incident or suspect should call Irvine Police Detectives at (949) 724-7249.
