Sharon Osbourne's recent absence from the CBS show "The Talk" appears to have been explained: She had something to get off her chest.
The 59-year-old co-host says that during her hiatus from the series, which began several weeks ago, she had surgery to remove her breast implants after one of them leaked into her stomach.
"One morning I woke up and one of my boobies was kind of much longer than the other," she said on "The Talk" on Thursday, October 6. "So I'm looking, thinking, 'This isn't right.' I went to a fabulous surgeon and she said to me ... the implant was leaking. I had them taken out. It had leaked into the wall of my stomach. So all that ... saying those silicones are lovely, it's not when it's floating over your old stomach, it's not. So I had them all done. This is all me. No implant."
"I don't feel like I've got a waterbed laying on my chest anymore, it's fabulous," she added.
Osbourne had joked last year that she would have her breast implants removed and given to her rocker husband Ozzy to be used as paperweights. She had said in July that she planned on taking time off from "The Talk" to spend more time with him.
In June, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration released a statement saying that women who get silicone gel-filled breast implants are likely to need additional surgery within 10 years. The use of such implants was banned in the United States in 1992 and approved in 2006, following clinical studies and product improvements.
People with silicone and saline implants may experience complications such as rupturing and the hardening of scar tissue around the breast. There are up to 60 reported worldwide cases of women with implants who developed anaplastic large cell lymphoma, a rare type of cancer. The risks increase the longer implants remain in a person's body and are also dependant on the size and types of fillers and shells.Osbourne also revealed that she had additional cosmetic work done during her absence from "The Talk."
"I had a little bit of lady stuff done downstairs," she said. "The other morning, as I'm getting out of the shower and I'm looking at myself. I have mirrors everywhere in the bathroom. I was just looking at my bum ... and I'm going 'Oooh you look 20 years old. But then your legs still look 60.' You can never get it right. It is never perfect, but I'm very, very happy."
Osbourne rose to fame with the MTV reality series "The Osbournes." The show debuted in 2002 and featured the quirky life of Ozzy, Sharon and children Kelly and Jack, who recently became engaged to actress Lisa Stelly. Osbourne said he told her the news as she was recuperating from her "upstairs-downstairs" cosmetic procedures.
"Then the next day I woke up and I forgot even that we have the conversation," she said. "And then he called me on the phone and said, 'Well Mum, Lisa and I are going to look at houses. And I'm like, 'Why?' I'd forgotten the whole thing. He understood. It wasn't me, it was those pills!"
"He's led such a full life already," Osbourne said about her son. "He said, 'I've been to every country in this entire world. I've had many women. I've done what I want to do and I want my own family.'"
Osbourne also said she adores her future daughter-in-law, calling her a "gorgeous, southern girl."
