Study: More children suffering concussions

LOS ANGELES

The study, published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said emergency room visits rose 60 percent in the past decade.

Officials said the higher numbers is not because there are more injuries. It's because parents and coaches are more careful about getting head injuries treated.

Riding bikes and playing football were the leading causes of traumatic brain injuries.

There were nearly 250,000 brain injury hospital visits in 2009, which is up from about 153,000 in 2001.
