Mikey Welsh, the former bass player for the band Weezer, posted an eerie online message less than two weeks before his death.
The musician was found dead at a Chicago hotel room on Saturday. He was 40 years old.
"Dreamt i died in chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep)," Welsh said on his Twitter page on September 26. "Need to write my will today."
Authorities said Welsh was supposed to check out of the Raffaello Hotel at 1 p.m. Saturday. When he failed to do so, hotel staff went to his room and found him unconscious and not breathing. Officials say there's nothing to indicate foul play.
"We are deeply saddened to announce that Mikey Welsh passed away unexpectedly today," a message posted on Welsh's Facebook page said on Saturday. "He will forever be remembered as an amazing father, artist, and friend. May he rest in peace."
Weezer also posted a message on its website, saying Welsh's time with the band was "vital, essential, wild, and amazing."
"A unique talent, a deeply loving friend and father, and a great artist is gone, but we will never forget him," the band said.
Welsh, who is from Burlington, Vt., performed with Weezer from 1998 to 2001, leaving after suffering a nervous breakdown. He eventually established himself in a second career as a painter.
