J.R. Martinez says he's working on bringing the "booty" on "Dancing With The Stars."
The 28-year-old actor and motivational speaker and his partner Karina Smirnoff, 33, received 26 out of 30 from the judges for their "Pink Panther" inspired Foxtrot in week 4 of ABC's hit celebrity ballroom dancing series (read recap). The pair ended the evening in second place, three points behind the leaders Ricki Lake and Derek Hough.
"When you're dancing it, you kind of get lost in the character and lost in the steps. It's when we go home and we watch it - then it may be a different story - because then, I look at myself," Martinez told OnTheRedCarpet.com after the performance. "I'm sure this is going to be no different. Not every dance is perfect, there's always something you can tweak and you can learn and you can fix for the following week, if you're around."
While Martinez is concerned with bettering himself, he and partner Smirnoff say there's something else they work on heavily in rehearsals: His "booty."
"Pull out the butt tonight, you know?" Martinez joked. "She told me, 'I want you to show that butt - swing your butt!' And I would swing it, and I think I swung it tonight!"
The nine remaining pairs return on Tuesday, October 11 for an elimination episode where the fourth couple is expected to be sent packing. Martinez and Smirnoff hope to perform the Samba if they advance to week five.
"Our goal is to go out there and work hard and get good scores, and at the same time, entertain America," Martinez said.
