A new study found that a healthy diet may weaken the effects of a heart disease gene.

According to the study, a diet composed of raw vegetables, fruits and berries may counteract a gene associated with an increased risk of heart disease.

The study found that people with the gene who followed the diet had a similar risk of heart disease than those without the gene.

The study, led by researchers at McMaster and McGill universities in Canada, supports previous recommendations to consume more than five servings of fruits or vegetables a day.
