Julianne Hough says her new film "Footloose," also starring Kenny Wormald, is true to the original and will leave fans of the iconic classic pleased.
In the remake of the 1984 classic, a kid named Ren McCormack, portrayed by Wormald, leads a group of teenagers in a small town in the South to rebel against local rules against dancing and rock 'n' roll. Hough plays his headstrong love interest, Ariel Moore, whose father is a minister who leads the anti-dance movement.
"The fans of the original are going to be so happy that we didn't mess it up - and I mean especially us - we are fans of the original too," Hough told OnTheRedCarpet.com and other press outlets at the recent premiere for "Footloose" in Los Angeles. "And then of course, the generation that hasn't seen it is going to be so excited to see something fresh and new - a storyline in today's generation that actually has a message and a moral."
The 23-year-old dancer, actress and singer also went on to explain how like many others, she at first was skeptical about remaking such a classic film.
"It's not even a remake - it's an iconic remake," Hough added. "Everybody knows 'Footloose.' Of course you're a little skeptical, but look, I gotta tell you - we did not mess it up, I promise."
While Hough displays some fierce dancing alongside co-star Wormald in the film and also on "Dancing With The Stars," she revealed to OnTheRedCarpet.com that her favorite form of dancing is "dorky dancing" with her nieces and nephews.
Hough is perhaps best known for being a two-time champion on ABC's hit dance show "Dancing With The Stars," and more recently played Georgia in the 2010 film "Burlesque" alongside Cher and Christina Aguilera.
Hough's brother, "Dancing With The Stars" champion Derek Hough recently denied engagement rumors between Julianne and boyfriend Ryan Seacrest, but Julianne told US Weekly that Seacrest is 'phenomenal.'
