Man sought for using fake $100 bills at local stores

PALMDALE, Calif.

Authorities said the man enters the stores and picks out small-dollar items to buy. He then distracts the clerks by talking to them while handing them the counterfeit bill.

The bills were washed and reprinted as $100 bills. This technique in which counterfeiters take real $5 bills and wash them to reprint them is common because it can't be detected by counterfeit pens, according to officials.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
