OTRC: Lindsay Lohan late to community service appointment at morgue, turned away

Lindsay Lohan showed up late to a scheduled community service appointment at the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office on Thursday morning and was turned away, an official says, a day after a judge revoked the actress' probation for skipping similar court-mandated meetings at a women's shelter.

The 25-year-old actress "arrived at the morgue approximately 20 minutes late and will be returning for orientation tomorrow," her spokesperson said in a statement. "Her lateness was due to a combination of not knowing what entrance to go through and confusion caused by the media waiting for her arrival. Lindsay spoke with the supervisors at the morgue, they showed her how to get in and everything is all cleared up."

Ed Winter, the office's assistant chief, had earlier said Lohan "failed to meet" an 8 a.m. appointment to begin her community service at the facility. He said the morgue received a phone call 20 minutes beforehand saying the actress was 10 minutes away. His office later said Lohan showed up at 8:40 a.m. and was turned away and that the court was told about the incident.

"With all of the stress and pressure from yesterday and today, I've never been so happy to go to therapy!!!!" Lohan Tweeted on Thursday. "Also, I'm sorry for the confusion that I may of caused to those at the Coroner's office. Won't happen again, now I know where to go!"

On Wednesday, the actress was handcuffed and detained at a Los Angeles court after a judge ruled she had violated her probation by skipping out on nine community service appointments at a women's shelter, which got her kicked out of the program. She was released after a few hours after posting a $100,000 bond.

Another hearing was scheduled on November 2, during which the actress could be handed down a jail sentence. In April, Lohan was ordered to complete 360 out of 480 community service hours at the women's shelter and morgue after pleading no contest in a misdemeanor theft case.

Lohan's theft charge in itself had constituted a violation of her previous probation, regarding a 2007 drunk driving and cocaine possession case, the judge had ruled earlier this year. In addition to her community service punishment, she was also sentenced to jail. Her time was reduced from 120 to 35 days, which the actress was allowed to serve at home. She was released on June 29. Lohan has in the past served time in a real jail for violating her probation.

In July, during a meeting about her probation, the judge warned Lohan that she had to expedite the progress of her required community service hours.

Lohan's spokesperson said on Monday that the actress opted to complete her community service hours at the Los Angeles branch of the Red Cross. The judge said on Wednesday that it would not count because it was not part of the actress' sentence. Lohan has until April 2012 to complete her community service hours.

While in court on Wednesday, Lohan was served with a $1 million lawsuit that a former rehab worker, Dawn Holland, filed against her in July.

The woman had engaged in a violent confrontation with the actress when she underwent treatment at the Betty Ford Center in January. Authorities said Lohan would not face charges over the incident, but Holland says in her lawsuit that she injured her wrist seriously in the scuffle and required surgery.

Lohan was also recently recently sued by a limousine company, which says the actress owes $90,000 for unpaid services and fees. The actress' spokesperson said Lohan was not served with such a lawsuit.
