The El Segundo-based company said Friday that it was taking precautions after one bag of spinach tested positive for listeria. No illnesses have been reported.
The recalled bags of spinach have the "enjoy by" date of Oct. 16 and were sold in Fresh & Easy stores in California, Nevada and Arizona. The products have the barcode 20001124.
Listeria is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people or others with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
