Former "Malcolm in the Middle" star Frankie Muniz and his girlfriend, Elycia Marie Turnbow, are engaged.
The 25-year-old actor and musician announced the news over the weekend.
Muniz's announcement comes months after he and Turnbow, a publicist, made headlines over an alleged violent confrontation that was said to have occurred between the two in February.
A police report had stated that Muniz and Turnbow, a publicist, had argued about "prior relationships" and that Muniz reportedly "grabbed a gun and held it to his head, possibly with the intent of committing suicide." The actor's spokesperson had said the incident had "escalated beyond a point that it needed to be" and that Muniz was not suicidal and had handed over the weapon to authorities.
The FOX comedy series "Malcolm in the Middle" ran from 2000 to 2006 and also starred Bryan Cranston, who later won Emmys for his role in the AMC show "Breaking Bad."
Muniz went on to appear in films such as "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" in 2007 and also voiced a character in the 2010 movie "The Legend of Secret Pass." The former child star also worked as a pro race car driver. He now lives in Arizona and plays drums for the band You Hang Up.
