Giuliana Rancic is back at work and "thrilled" to be there after undergoing a double lumpectomy on Tuesday, October 18.
The E! News co-host tells the network news site, "I'm so thrilled to get back to work and return to my E! family today." She added, "I still have a long road ahead, but thanks to everyone's overwhelming love, support and prayers, it will be an easier journey."
The surgery was part of her breast cancer treatment and the 37-year-old had cancerous growths from both breasts removed. Bill Rancic told "Today Show" co-host Ann Curry on Thursday, October 20, that the surgery took two hours. He also said the doctors had to remove a few lymph nodes that may have been affected.
Giuliana Rancic announced that she has early stages of breast cancer during an appearance on "The Today Show" on October 17. The cancer was discovered during a mammogram examination she had while she was undergoing a third round of in-vitro fertilization in an effort to get pregnant. Rancic has been open about her fertility problems and had a miscarriage in 2010.
Giuliana Rancic said her surgery would be followed by six and one-half weeks of radiation therapy.
"The E! viewers have helped me to get through this and stay strong more than they will ever know and I will be eternally grateful to them for their love," Rancic continued in her statement on Monday, October 24.
Giuliana married Bill Rancic, the winner of the first season of "The Apprentice," in 2007. The couple launched their own reality show, "Giuliana & Bill" in 2009. "Bill is unbelievable," Rancic said about her husband on October 17. "He lets me cry when I want to cry. He just lets me feel what I want to feel."
"Feels so great to be back at work today," Rancic Tweeted on Monday. "The @Enews set was such a blast & my friends in the newsroom wore pink ribbons 4 me:) #sosweet."
