Did Ashton Kutcher's nude appearance and kiss with fellow cast member Jon Cryer on Monday night's episode of "Two and a Half Men" boost the CBS' show's ratings?
Approximately 15.5 million total viewers watched the show, which earned a final rating of 5.5 among the coveted demographic of adults aged 18 to 49 and marked a 5 percent increase from last week and rebound from what appeared to be a steady decline since its ninth season premiere in September.
The first episode of the ninth season had earned a 10.7 rating and introduced Kutcher's character, a sexy Internet businessman and billionnaire, following the ousting of troubled actor Charlie Sheen earlier this year. Last week's episode garnered a 5.2 rating - the lowest of the current season of "Two and a Half Men," CBS' must successful sitcom.
Monday's show featured an opening shot of Kutcher seemingly naked and also saw him locking lips with Cryer, who plays his roommate and brother of Sheen's character, in a bar in a bid to prove they are a gay couple, after watching two women kiss in front of them.
Monday's episode also featured guest stars Jane Lynch from FOX show "Glee" as a psychiatrist and Joe Manganiello, who played the boyfriend of Kutcher's character's ex. The actor is best known for his role as sexy werewolf on the R-rated HBO series 'True Blood."
"Two and a Half Men' faced competition on Monday from Major League Baseball's Game 5 of the World Series and ABC reality show "Dancing With The Stars," which began an hour earlier. The game earned a 4.2 rating, while the ABC reality show garnered a 3.2. Another network show that also aired at the same tiem as "Two and a Half Men," the CW freshman series "Hart of Dixie," earned a 0.8 rating. The channel is owned by CBS and Warner Bros., which produces "Two and a Half Men."
Sheen had said during his much-publicized meltdown earlier this year that rating for "Two and a Half Men" would sink without him. He said he gave Kutcher a "little advice" during a friendly encounter at the 2011 Emmy Awards, days before the ninth season premiere of "Two and a Half Men."
