Transformer explosion in Anaheim injures 3

ANAHEIM, Calif.

Authorities responded to the 2500 block of West Lincoln Avenue at 9:47 a.m. Margie Otto, a spokesman for Anaheim Public Utilities, said the victims were working on high-voltage power lines in a cherry picker-type truck when they were injured.

The workers, who were properly equipped with gear, were taken to a local hospital for burn injuries. Authorities say the victims were conscious and talking when they were transported.

Otto said it was unclear who the workers are employed to.

The explosion caused a power outage at an apartment complex nearby. Power was expected to be restored in four to six hours.

The cause of the explosion has not been determined.
