Mario Cantone has married his partner of 20 years, musical theater director Jerry Dixon, the actor revealed on "The View" on Friday.
"We're older now. We've been together 20 years," the actor said on the ABC morning talk show. "After 20 years you're like, 'Thanks for the anti-climactic honeymoon, government!'"
Cantone said the wedding was officiated by pastor Jay Bakker, the son of the late Tammy Faye Bakker Messner.
"It was beautiful, just my family there," Cantone said of the nuptials. "I love him. He's a good man."
Cantone is best known for his role as wedding planner Anthony Marentino on "Sex and the City." In "Sex and the City 2," his character married to Carrie Bradshaw's best gay friend Stanford Blatch in an extravagant wedding, which included a performance by Liza Minnelli.
In June, New York passed a bill legalizing same-sex marriage, becoming the sixth and the largest state to do so.
An Independent Democratic Conference report has said that New York's economy would likely grow by about $284 million as a result of the gay marriage legislation, according to a Reuters news wire report. It said that within the next three years, an estimated 21,000 local gay and lesbian couples would marry and nearly 42,000 other same-sex pairs would travel to the state for destination weddings.
