OTRC: 'Dancing With The Stars': Dance By Dance Recap - stars get spooky

'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star Rob Kardashian and his partner Cheryl Burke received 25 out of 30 from the judges for their Tango on the October 31 episode of 'Dancing With The Stars.'

"Dancing With The Stars" and "subtle" does not belong in the same sentence. If you're going to do this holiday, go all out! The sets, the costumes, the music, and Tom "Boo"-geron's puns make us all feel like we got invited to a very exclusive Halloween party. Even unseen announcer man got in to the act and changed his opening line: "Dead" from Hollywood!

We'll see the six remaining couples dance a solo number, to a Halloween themed song. And then they've been divided into two groups of three for a group dance: Team Paso and Team Tango.

Here's a recap, from the highest scores to the lowest:

Ricki Lake and Derek Hough - 27 out of 30 for paso doble / 26 out of 30 for group / Total: 53 out of 60

The woman has an inflamed nerve running through her ribcage and she can dance a paso doble like that? Without a doubt, Ricki deserves the highest score this week. She's got the winning instinct and her eyes focused on November 21st and 22nd.

Ricki gets bandaged up (and she says the corset for her costume really helps) and gives us a "what, me, injured?" routine. And I could just copy and paste this sentence from week to week to week: Derek Hough choreographs another great routine. Head Judge Len Goodman praised Ricki's shape and footwork, Bruno Tonioli called her a blizzard of passion, and Carrie Ann Inaba said the dance gorgeous.

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke - 25 out of 30 for tango / 26 out of 30 for group / Total: 51 out of 60

On a day when the Kardashian name made unexpected headlines (thanks Kim!), you had to figure little brother Rob would either stumble or shine. Fortunately for him, it was time to shine.

He attacked the tango Cheryl choreographed to the theme from "The Addams Family" and he seems to be getting more and more comfortable every week on the dance floor. He also got quite a lot out of the group dance because he was the one male celebrity; that meant he got to learn from both Derek and Maks.

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy - 24 out of 30 for samba / 26 out of 30 for group / Total: 50 out of 60

Everyone seemed to be walking on eggshells after Maksim's outburst with the judges last week. Maks was a bit abrupt during rehearsals, but Hope actually looked like she had the best time because she got to dance with someone else! (Maks hurt his toe) This samba definitely was her best dance yet.

Carrie Ann complimented Hope for bringing a lightness of spirit to the floor, and Len gave her kudos for coping well with such a difficult dance. Hope benefited the most from the team score, and, like Rob, seemed to really learn from the Pros dancing around her.

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff - 25 out of 30 for tango / 23 out of 30 for group / Total: 48 out of 60

J.R. does a tango 100 times better than I ever could. But Len said it best: J.R. has set the bar really high and when he's even just a little bit off, it's noticeable.

Yes, they gave him a particularly mismatched song and dance ("Ghostbusters" and a tango). And Karina did a great job choreographing so the two ideas seemed to fit. Maybe it was a week where we need to be reminded that J.R. is not a pro and has come really far in this competition.

David Arquette and Kym Johnson - 24 out of 30 for cha cha / 23 out of 30 for group / Total: 47 out of 60

David had to learn how to really move his hips for his magical cha cha cha. He and Kym Johnson mixed themes of a magician and Dracula for the song "Abracadabra." You can't help but smile when you watch him dance; he just seems to be enjoying it so darn much.

The judges were full of compliments, with Len telling David he's turned himself into a dancer, and Carrie Ann saying his improvement is nothing short of phenomenal.

Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus - 21 out of 30 for Jive / 23 out of 30 for group / Total: 44 out of 60

I was hopeful that this native Georgia girl would really shine in a jive choreographed to "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." The producers showed a good rehearsal with Tristan, where he emphasized this is all about having fun yourself and bringing fun to the room.

Sadly, the dance was a bit flat, and you could tell from the start Nancy lost her place with the music. Bruno said maybe either the devil did get her, or her shoes were too small.

TEAM TANGO- 23 out of 30

Team Tango consisted of contestants David Arquette and his partner Kym Johnson, J.R. Martinez and his partner Karina Smirnoff and Nancy Grace and her partner Tristan MacManus.

TEAM PASO- 26 out of 30

Team Paso Doble consisted of contestants Ricki Lake and her partner Derek Hough, Rob Kardashian and his partner Cheryl Burke and Hope Solo and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Who'll go home? We'll find out the next eliminated couple Tuesday night!
