OTRC: Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard reportedly separate

The "New Girl" star Zooey Deschanel and her husband, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard, are reportedly ending their marriage after two years.

The actress' spokesperson confirmed the news to OnTheRedCarpet.com on Tuesday, November 1. The actress' spokesperson had no further comment on the matter.

Deschanel, 31, and Gibbard, 35, married in September 2009 and have no children. The two attended the Emmy Awards together in September.

Deschanel, who aside from acting also sings in the indie rock band She & Him, recently sang the national anthem during Game 4 of the World Series. She & Him released a new Christmas album on October 24.

It was announced in September that her series "The New Girl" was picked up for a full-season by Fox. Her character, named Jess Day, is an awkward 20-something who finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her and is forced to live on her own. Day moves in to an apartment with three male roommates and largely spends her time in the pilot crying in their living room while watching "Dirty Dancing" and singing to herself.

The pilot was written by "No Strings Attached" writer Liz Meriwether.

The actress recently starred alongside Paul Rudd, Rashida Jones and Elizabeth Banks in the comedy "Our Idiot Brother" and has starred in films like "Elf," "(500) Days of Summer" and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

Meanwhile Gibbard's band released their eighth studio album "Codes and Keys" on May 31. He also released a solo album in 2004 and released another album with a band called The Postal Service in 2003.
