Kris Jenner appeared on ABC's "The View" on Wednesday to talk about her memoir, but ended up talking about her daughter Kim Kardashian's divorce announcement and Jenner seems to be wondering what went wrong herself.
"I'm actually searching for the same answer to that question," Jenner said when asked what could have happened in a mere 72 days of marriage to warrant a divorce.
Jenner teared up when she mentioned the conversation she had with her daughter and "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star.
"She says mommy this is something that I feel that I need to do. Please trust me, please be there for me. And of course as her mom I'm with my girls through thick and thin and it's tough," Jenner said. "It's a tough time for the family and for Kim and for everybody involved. It's really hard to go through this on such a public stage."
Kim Kardashian, 31, filed for divorce from Kris Humphries at a Los Angeles court on Monday, October 31, which she also listed as the date of the pair's separation, according to legal papers obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com. She cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. This was Kardashian's second marriage. She and Humphries, 26, have no children.
The wedding of Kardashian and Humphries took place on August 20 under tight security at a $20 million estate near Santa Barbara. More than 500 people, including celebrities, attended the highly-publicized event.
The wedding was filmed for the E! special "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event," which aired earlier this month.
Though some reports claim that Kardashian and Humphries profited millions off their wedding, Jenner denied such reports.
"Did they net or gross any amount of money? Absolutely not," Kris Jenner continued. ""Kim definitely made money [but] when it was all said and done, Kim had to pay a lot of money... The money that she made went to the wedding. She still owed money."
Jenner also appeared on NBC's "Today" show and said that the relationship wasn't faked for the cameras and the wedding "certainly wasn't a sham, it certainly wasn't something for TV. We have enough going on on our show."
Kardashian and Humphries, a basketball player, began dating in late 2010 and announced their engagement in May. The reality star was previously married to music producer Damon Thomas. The two wed in 2000, when she was 19 years old, and divorced in 2004.
Kim Kardashian wrote a blog post on her official website on Tuesday, November 1, which was addressed to her fans.
"This is probably the hardest thing I've ever had to write," Kardashian began the post. She added, "First and foremost, I married for love. I can't believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show!"
Kardashian also addressed her reported wedding pay day in her blog post, writing, "These reports are simply not true and it makes me so sad to have to even clarify this."
She added, "I'm so grateful to everyone who took the time to come to my wedding and I'll be donating the money for all the gifts to the Dream Foundation."
Kardashian also said she "got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn't know how to and didn't want to disappoint a lot of people."
