Khloe Kardashian has come to her sister Kim's defense, following news of her divorce from Kris Humphries, saying her sister "loves hard."
"I am so protective and defensive," Khloe, 27, told Australia's Daily Telegraph on Wednesday. "I want to stand up and say to everyone, 'That's not true,' and yell at people, but I can't do that... No matter what, whether you're at your best, you're always going to have your critics saying something."
Several hours after filing her divorce papers, Kim and Khloe boarded a plane to Sydney, Australia to launch a new handbag collection, which they designed with Bruno Schiavi. Kim Kardashian didn't want to talk about the divorce, but said her trip to Australia was a good distraction.
"I don't think I'm ready to talk about the details of it. It's really hard to go through something like this...but especially for now, we made a commitment to do this trip months prior to any personal issues going on in our lives," Kim Kardashian told the newspaper. "To just dive into work is something that we always do."
Khloe raised her concerns about Kim's marriage long before the reality star walked the aisle. When asked why she raised red flags about Kim's soon-to-be ex-husband, Khloe said it was sisterly love.
"I don't know why I was that way, I just was...I'm obsessed with her," Khloe said. "I'm so in love with my sisters and they mean everything to me. Kim is like my heart and soul and she's been so strong in coming on this trip."
"I just love, love, love that she believes in love the way she does. It's what makes her the way she is...there are not many people like that," Khloe continued. "But also I feel like I have to protect her more because she's like that. When Kim loves she loves hard and that's for her girlfriends, that's for anybody. I really respect that and that's her work ethic. She loves to design, she loves that too - it's not just with a man."
Kim Kardashian, 31, filed for divorce from Kris Humphries at a Los Angeles court on Monday, October 31, which she also listed as the date of the pair's separation, according to legal papers obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com. She cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. This was Kardashian's second marriage. She and Humphries, 26, have no children.
The wedding of Kardashian and Humphries took place on August 20 under tight security at a $20 million estate near Santa Barbara. More than 500 people, including celebrities, attended the highly-publicized event.
Kardashian and Humphries, a basketball player, began dating in late 2010 and announced their engagement in May. The reality star was previously married to music producer Damon Thomas. The two wed in 2000, when she was 19 years old, and divorced in 2004.
Kim Kardashian wrote a blog post on her official website on Tuesday, November 1, which was addressed to her fans.
"This is probably the hardest thing I've ever had to write," Kardashian began the post. She added, "First and foremost, I married for love. I can't believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show!"
The wedding was filmed for the E! special "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event" which aired in September, Khloe Kardashian and Humphries clashed several times as she questioned Humphries' intentions with her famous sister and the basketball player turned the question around on Khloe.
"What are you trying to say? That I like this world and that's why I'm with Kim," Humphries said. "How dare you question someone else's marriage. Are you sure you're not just using Lamar? He's a Laker, he's got championships. How often are you going to find a tall, successful guy to have kids with?"
Lamar Odom, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers and is the star of the TV realty show "Khloe & Lamar," married Khloe Kardashian in 2009 after dating for a month.
