The new James Bond movie, the 23rd in the hit spy series, will be titled "Skyfall," and feature a shirtless Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem, as well as two new "Bond girls," played by Berenice Marlohe and Naomi Harris.
Details about the new film were revealed by director Sam Mendes, cast members and producers at a press conference in London on Thursday, November 3, after weeks of speculation about it (See photos from the event).
"We will be shooting the movie 'Skyfall' here in London," Mendes told reporters."We will be shooting Bond's journey takes him to China, to Shanghai and other parts of China, to Istanbul in Turkey and other parts of Turkey and to Scotland. I think has all the elements of a classic Bond movie including, to quell any rumors, a lot of action."
Daniel Craig, who played James Bond in the films "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace," said he was "very comfortable" stepping back into Agent 007's shoes.
"If I could do this for a few more years, I'd be very happy," he said.
When asked by the moderator if Bond and Bardem's character, a villain, will be seen shirtless in the film, producers Barbara Broccoli said: "Damn right."
Craig had stripped down in previous films of the franchise, which sees the spy hero romancing sexy "Bond girls," a term given to sexy female characters who become acquainted with the agent. Some them turn out to be villains.
The new 'Bond girls," of "Skyfall" are Berenice Marlohe, a French actress and model who previously starred in only French projects, and Naomi Harris, who is British.
"I play a glamorous, enigmatic character called Severin," Marlohe told reporters. "I've been training a bit, to fire guns for the first time in my life. It was very fun. I enjoyed it very much."
Harris, who previously portrayed the mysterious Tia Dalma in the "Pirates of the Caribbean films," said she plays "a field agent called Eve" in "Skyfall." It was previously reported she was set to play MI6 secretary and Bond's friend, Miss Moneypenny.
I'm still having to pich myself. I've spent two months training so far so I'm really ready for the rollercoaster that's about to commence. The new Bond film is set for release on Nov. 9, 2012, almost 50 years after the release of the first James Bond film, "Dr. No," which was released in 1962 and starred Sean Connery.
Bardem, who won an Oscar for his role as an assassin in the 2007 film "No Country For Old Men," said the new Bond film will be "fun to do," adding: For me it's a pleasure and an honor to be here. "
Judi Dench returns as MI6 head M and also appeared at the press conference. Mendes confirmed other cast members who were absent from the event due to work commitments - Albert Finney, a 75-year-old actor known for movies such as the 2007 spy thriller "The Bourne Ultimatum," Ben Whishaw and Ralph Fiennes, aka Lord Voldemort from the "Harry Potter" movies.
The cast also includes Rory Kinnear, who will play M's chief of staff, Bill Tanner and Helen McCrory, who played Narcissa Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" films. Details about their roles have not been specified.
