Police are asking for help in identifying the black Toyota 4Runner seen in the video.
The 4Runner is captured on camera as it passed through a gas station on the corner of Grand and Edinger avenues immediately following Wednesday night's shooting.
Investigators say the 4Runner and the victim's van were seen traveling next to each other.
"There's some type of interaction between the two vehicles and one of these individuals that's in this Toyota 4Runner fired multiple rounds into the victim's van, striking both the driver and the passenger," said Santa Ana Police Corporal Anthony Bertagna.
Police say 36-year-old Juan Diaz was shot. He then slammed into a Volkswagen Beetle carrying a family of five.
Diaz died at the scene.
A passenger in his van suffered gunshot wounds.
Two adults and three children inside the Beetle were hurt.
