Bill Condon, who directed "Breaking Dawn - Part 1," said he views the final two films of the "Twilight Saga" franchise as "the bookend" to the first film "Twilight." He also explained in a recent interview how the soundtrack to "Breaking Dawn - Part 1," which goes on sale on November 8, plays a part in paying homage to the film franchise.
The Iron & Wine song "Flightless Bird, American Mouth (Wedding Version)" is included in the new soundtrack but also played a pivotal role in the first film -- it was the first song that Edward and Bella danced to at the end of "Twilight."
"I always thought of this movie as the bookend to the first movie, and that was such a great powerful, romantic song for those characters," Condon said MTV News about the song. "It just felt right to kind of refer back to it at this important, important moment."
He didn't disclose what moment the song played in the upcoming film where Bella and Edward get married. "Musically, I would say at the wedding there's a jazz quartet that plays a couple of tracks from 'Eclipse,'" He added. "Carter Burwell has come back to do the score. He did the first movie, so 'Bella's Lullaby' features in this movie too."
The soundtrack also features songs by Bruno Mars and one by Mia Maestro, who stars in the movie as one of the female members of the "vegetarian" Denali coven. Maestro, whose most notable role was on the television series "Alias" opposite Jennifer Garner, will play Carmen, the matriarch of the coven.
On November 3, Kirsten Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner had their hand and footprints immortalized in a ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" depicts the wedding of Swan, a human, and Pattinson's character, vampire Edward Cullen, and the consequences of their union. The film is set for release on November 18.
