Ricki Lake says one of her latest "Dancing With The Stars" performances was dedicated to her late grandmother and jokes that it made her "fall in love" with partner Derek Hough.
The 42-year-old actress and television host and three-time champion Hough, 26, received a score of 28 out of 30 from the judges for their Waltz, and 24 out of 30 for their Jive in week 8 of ABC's hit celebrity ballroom dancing series (read recap). The pair earned the second highest combined score of 52 in a tie with Hope Solo and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
"I was actually doing it for my, my grandmother, my deceased grandmother," Lake told OnTheRedCarpet.com after the performances. "I was just thinking about her cause he had me looking up, and I was sort of thinking of her with the lyrics, you know - and I was falling in love with him. It was so hard not to fall in love with Derek Hough during that dance."
Lake is currently engaged to Christian Evans. The two have been together since mid-2010.
She also talked about her biggest competition on "Dancing With The Stars" so far - herself.
"Clearly, tonight J.R. and Karina were number one by far, but you know it's more about a competition with myself," Lake added. "I want to keep getting better and better, and so it's disappointing when I don't do my best. I work so hard all week long that you only want to put out your best performance on the night of, so it's really about me wanting to perfect things with my performance."
J.R. Martinez and his partner Karina Smirnoff soared above the rest with their Jive and their Waltz in week 8, earning the first perfect score of the season - not one, but two perfect scores of 30 out of 30.
"I got silver," Lake joked.
The five remaining pairs return on Tuesday, November 8 for an elimination episode, during which the eighth couple is expected to be sent packing.check for local TV listings).
