Naomi Watts says makeup artists went to "painstaking lengths" to make her look believable as an older woman in the new film "J. Edgar."
The 32-year-old British star plays Helen Gandy, the secretary of FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio. The film was released on Wednesday, November 9, and was directed by Clint Eastwood. It explores his life and career as well as his controversial, then-secret relationship with colleague Clyde Tolson, played by Armie Hammer.
"I thought they did a great job," Watts told OnTheRedCarpet.com, regarding her makeup artists. "I hope to age as nicely as that. Nothing too disturbing. They were very careful. They went to painstaking lengths to get that right. "
The actress wore prosthetics on her face and neck when she portrayed an older version of her character.
"It's very scary because when you're doing that many scenes with the makeup, if you go too far, you just can't go into that place of believing and it kind of ruins everything," she said.
