Former "Baywatch" babe Pamela Anderson is set to play the Virgin Mary, believed by many to be the mother of Jesus, in a Christmas-themed sketch comedy amd musical special starring fellow Canadian and comedian Russell Peters.

Others set to star in the program, called "A Russell Peters Christmas," include singer Michael Buble, "The Love Boat" actor Ted Lange, Jon Lovitz and Scott Thompson of the Canadian sketch comedy troupe "The Kids in the Hall," Peters' real-life mother, Maureen, and baby daughter, Crystianna, as well as lingerie models.

"Inspired by the variety shows of yesteryear, Peters puts his own irreverent twist on the Christmas special, making it unlike anything viewers have seen before," Canadian network CTV said in a statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com.

Anderson, 44, is best known for her role as sexy lifeguard C.J. Parker in the hit show 1990s "Baywatch," her multiple Playboy magazine photos and a sex tape she made with ex-husband Tommy Lee.

In the past decade, Anderson has voiced the main part of sexy superhero "Stripperella" in an animated series, appeared on a show called "Stacked" and guest starred on the sitcom "8 Simple Rules." She had a short-lived E! reality show in 2008 and competed on ABC ballroom dancing series "Dancing With The Stars" in 2010.

Peters, a popular comedian who has appeared in several of his own TV specials, says on his website, when describing his religious background: "I'm Catholic, as is my mom and my brother, my dad was Anglican."

"A Russell Peters Christmas Special" is set to air on Canada's CTV network on Thursday, December 1 at 9 p.m. ET and on its Comedy Network on December 10 at 10 p.m. ET.
