Hope Solo says she wishes fans could have seen more of her and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy's "positive moments" on "Dancing With The Stars."
The two were eliminated on Tuesday's results show, leaving fellow celebrities Ricki Lake, J.R. Martinez and Rob Kardashian to battle it out to win the 13th season of the ABC reality series.
Solo appeared very emotional backstage after she was voted off and was seen wiping away tears, OnTheRedCarpet.com has learned. The 30-year-old starting goalkeeper for the United States women's soccer team, who took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics, gave one on-camera interview and then avoided other reporters.
"I'm especially grateful to my loyal fans and of course to maks," Solo said on her Twitter page on Wednesday, November 16.
"Thanks for the journey!" she said. "I wish you could have seen more of our positive moments! Unfortunately I don't get to choose what they want to portray. But @maksimC and I had a blast together and I'm honored to say that our friendship will go well beyond these past 9 weeks! Love for you all! :)"
Chmerkovskiy made headlines last month after getting into a heated verbal confrontation with one of the three judges, Len Goodman, who had often criticized his dances with Solo.
The soccer star announced on the show, after her elimination: "We have the most amazing fan base and instead of the winning the mirrorball trophy, I'm going to try to win a gold medal this summer at the Olympics."The remaining three stars were later interviewed on the ABC late-night talk show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!." The spot is usually reserved for the pair that has been eliminated.
Solo said on Wednesday morning she was "sitting at an airport" but "would have loved" to have appeared on the program.
