Butterball and Aramark teamed up with the city of Los Angeles to hand out 2,000 turkeys, marking the city's largest turkey giveaway.
Organizers say a lot of families are struggling this year, making the event even more important.
"I'm not sure I've ever seen the need greater than right now," said L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. "There are so many people, and not just people who are out of work -- people who are working, but just can't make ends meet."
Many food pantries and charities are having trouble keeping up with requests this year.
The mayor said events like Monday's giveaway are a good chance for everyone to be reminded of what they're thankful for.
