Singer Katy Perry is set to host the December 10 episode of "Saturday Night Live," it was announced on Monday, November 21. Perry will be joined by musical guest Robyn.
Perry appeared on the show as a musical guest in 2010 in an episode hosted by Amy Poehler where she made a tongue-in-cheek reference to the banning of a "Sesame Street" segment that featured her wearing a skimpy dress, trying to coax Elmo to play with her. Check out the "Sesame Street" segment and the "Saturday Night Live" skit below.
"I'm SO excited 2 announce I'll be HOSTING Saturday Night Live Dec. 10! This is the cherry on top and @robynkonichiwa is part of it," Perry wrote on her official Twitter page on Monday.
Perry is not the first singer to host the long-running sketch comedy series. Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake have hosted a few times as well as Queen Latifah and Ludacris.
The "E.T." singer's announcement comes fresh off her big win at the American Music Awards on Sunday where she was given a special award for being the first female pop artist with five No. 1 hit singles off one album -- "Teenage Dream."
