2 Downey shooting suspects identified

DOWNEY, Calif.

Two men were shot multiple times just before 9 p.m. Saturday on the 11400 block of Horton Ave. in Downey. They were hospitalized in critical condition.

Police identified Downey resident Jose Zapata Jr., 29, and South Gate resident Orlando Villalobos, 30, as suspects in the shooting. A third unidentified male Hispanic was also sought as a suspect in the shooting.

Police think the shooting stemmed from an argument between the five men. Detectives believe Zapata and the unidentified man produced handguns and shot the victims several times.

The suspects allegedly fled the scene in one of the victim's vehicles, a black 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck with Calif. license plate 8C01379. The suspects may also be driving a 2003 Blue Chevy S-10 pickup truck with California license 7B39445, according to police.

The suspects should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
