Host Chris Harrison swaps roses for cash in 'You Deserve It'

LOS ANGELES

He's hosting the new ABC game show, "You Deserve It."

"I love the fact that I get to do a show where there's no antagonist. There's no catch. There's no, 'oh, you could lose everything.' There's no moment like that, it's all good," said Harrison.

The premise for "You Deserve It" is simple. Contestants play the game, answering questions. But the money they win isn't for them, it's for an unsuspecting but deserving person in their lives.

"There's that hidden camera element," said Harrison. "And at the end Brooke Burns kind of has this Publishers' Clearing House moment where they go in and surprise them and change their lives."

Monday's episode features a woman competing in hopes of winning money for her mother, who is about to lose her nonprofit organization in Los Angeles.

"Mama Hatley, who has given every ounce of her, every penny, every dollar, everything in her soul to the community of South Central Los Angeles and taken care of so many people, and has asked for nothing," said Harrison. "It's emotional. There's not a dry eye in the house."

You can watch "You Deserve It" on Mondays at 9 p.m. on ABC7.
