Tires slashed on group of Newport Beach cars

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.

The vandalism happened near Lake Avenue and 33rd Street and Lake Avenue and 32nd Street.

Police received several calls Tuesday morning from car owners who woke up to find their tires destroyed.

Investigators said this kind of vandalism is unusual in that area, and they're concerned about how many vehicles were targeted.

Overall, vandalism cases in Newport Beach are higher this year than they were for all of 2010.
