Sara Gilbert confirmed her relationship with singer/songwriter Linda Perry while on her daytime show "The Talk" on Wednesday, November 30. However, the former "Roseanne" actress said she would have preferred to reveal the relationship publicly on her own terms without media speculation.
Gilbert, 36, was photographed handing hands with Perry, 46, over the Thanksgiving weekend exiting a grocery store in West Hollywood, California, according to People magazine. Perry is known as the former lead singer for 4 Non Blondes who had a hit song "What's Up" in 1993. Perry has also collaborated with artists like P!nk on "Get This Party Started" and Christina Aguilera on "Beautiful."
"All these articles are out that I'm in a new relationship," Gilbert said during a segment on "The Talk" on Wednesday. "It's weird and then I go online, and it's on CNN and I'm flattered and I can't believe that anyone cares."
"I do want to share stuff with you guys but I kind of would rather than do it on my terms -- you know when I'm in full hair and makeup," she joked.
The topic of Gilbert's new relationship came up when the ladies of panel began talking about celebrities who try to keep their lives private versus those who expose their private lives for television. "The Talk" co-host Aisha Tyler then asked Gilbert about the recent media attention on her new relationship.
"It started with this show. When I decided to do this show, I wasn't sure -- I kind of came up with the idea I guess -- but then I wasn't sure I wanted to be a host," Gilbert said about her hesitation behind sharing her personal life with the public. "Because I knew as soon as I started to do that I knew I would be talking about my personal life a little bit more. So I struggled with that."
The former "Roseanne" actress and Adler share custody of their two children -- son Levi Hank, born to Adler in October 2004 and a daughter, Sawyer, born to Gilbert on August 2, 2007. Gilbert and Adler, 44, began dating in 2001.
