Rosie O'Donnell is having a big year in 2011 with her return to television and new love, but 2012 might shape up to be an even bigger year for O'Donnell.
The comedian and television personality reportedly announced to her television audience on Monday during a taping that she is engaged to her girlfriend Michelle Rounds, according to the Associated Press. O'Donnell's spokesperson later confirmed the news to the wire service.
The 49-year-old met Rounds at a Starbucks earlier this year. O'Donnell first publicly stepped out with Rounds on September 19 at her annual Rosie Theater Kids Gala in New York City.
"I thought she was a 28-year-old heterosexual girl, because that's what she looked like to me. And she's a 40-year-old gay woman," the comedian told "Nightline" correspondent Cynthia McFadden -- about the first time she met Rounds -- in an interview in October. "My gadar was way off."
"I think if I had known that she was gay, I wouldn't have been brave enough to talk to her," O'Donnell revealed.
O'Donnell made her return to television in October with her talk show "The Rosie Show," which premiered on October 10 on Oprah Winfrey's OWN.
Rounds is a corporate head hunter in New York. O'Donnell was previously married to long-time partner Kelli Carpenter from 2004 to 2007. The couple adopted three children: Sons Parker and Blake and daughter Chelsea. Carpenter gave birth to a daughter named Vivienne Rose in 2002.
From 1996 to 2002, O'Donnell hosted her own daytime talk show "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," which earned her six Daytime Emmys for outstanding talk show host. She later co-hosted "The View" in 2006 and left the show a year later.
A wedding date has not been set.
