Afghan police: 48 killed in Kabul suicide bombing

KABUL, Afghanistan

A suicide bomber hit a Shiite mosque in Kabul. The attacker blew himself up Tuesday in the midst of a crowd of men, women and children gathered outside the Abul Fazl shrine.

Local authorities said a bomb strapped to a bicycle also went off as a convoy of Afghan Shiites drove down the road in a northern Afghan city. They were celebrating the holiday of Ashoura. At least four people died in that attack.

Both attacks left more than a hundred injured.
