FDA finds lipstick lead levels are safe

After completing expanded testing of lead in lipstick, the FDA has determined that the product is safe to use.

After completing expanded testing of lead in lipstick, the Federal Drug Administration has determined that the product is safe to use.

While trace amounts of lead are present in most lipsticks, the FDA limits the content to 20 parts per million.

The agency says all color additives must be government certified before any cosmetics can be manufactured.
