Ellie Kemper, an actress best known for her role as Erin Hannon on "The Office" and her appearance in "Bridesmaids," announced her engagement to comedy writer Michael Koman during her appearance on "Conan" on December 7.

"I want to mention something," O'Brien, who used to work with Koman, told Kemper. "It's sort of a big deal around this office. You got engaged."

"The guy you got engaged to is a very talented who worked for me for many, many, many years," O'Brien added before showing Koman in a photo, which can be seen above, dressed as a hotdog for a sketch.

Kemper joked that Koman had trouble getting to know her grandfather.

"We're at Thanksgiving a couple of years ago and my grandpa is there and my grandpa is this tough man, World War II [vet], tall guy," Kemper explained. "So he's sort of grilling Michael, 'What is your family like? What are your job aspirations? What are your goals in life?' And I think Michael started to squirm a little bit."

"So we finish dinner and we went into the kitchen to have dessert and there was a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie out, and my grandpa said, 'Ellie, what kind of pie are you gonna have?' Kemper continued. "And I said, 'I don't know, grandpa. They both look really good. I think I'll have pecan.' He said, 'Are you sure, Ellie? Because it's okay to keep your options open. You don't have to settle on a pie right now.' "

"Who knows what other pies are going to present themselves," Kemper remembered her grandfather saying.

Kemper appeared on Conan to promote "The Office" and her upcoming role on "21 Jump Street," which hits theaters on March 16. Check out Kemper's interview below.
