Chorizo sausages recalled due to mislabeling

December 11, 2011 12:00:00 AM PST
Double-check your chorizo: a California firm is recalling more than 2,000 pounds of chorizo because it's not labeled properly for people with food allergies.

The product in question is Silva Sausage Company's "Neto's Mexican Chorizo 4/1".

It was sold in 5-pound vacuum packs, with the number 6086 on the USDA mark. It also has the item number 18062.

The product was produced between Oct. 1 and Dec. 9, 2011, and distributed for international use in Santa Clara.

The chorizo has wheat in it, but it was left out of product labels.

There haven't been any reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the product. Consumers with questions can call (408) 293-5437.
