Jolly Old St. Nicholas pulled into the Downtown Burbank Metrolink station in the evening for the Spark of Love event, which provides toys for children in need.

The train rolled in just after 5 p.m. covered in 50,000 Christmas lights. A few thousand people were in attendance.

The toy drive was the collective effort of the city of Burbank, the Burbank Fire Department, Metrolink and ABC7.

The drive, however, goes beyond Saturday.

"Just bring an unwrapped toy into any of the fire stations and the firefighters will be happy to take them," said Burbank Fire Chief Ray Krakowski, who was at the event Saturday. "We've had such great support this year."

Krakowski urged anyone who can afford to give an extra gift to donate it to the drive.

"This is a hard year," he said. "This has been tough for a lot of families. The economy is what it is and the people that would've been able to give in prior years are now on the other end of this and receiving."

Unwrapped toys or sports equipment can be dropped off at any Burbank fire station.
