Julianne Hough and Tom Cruise rock out in the first trailer for the musical movie "Rock of Ages" which was released on December 13.
In the film, Cruise plays fictional rock star Stacee Jaxx. The 48-year-old actor is barely recognizable as the rock star and makes his first appearance toward the end of the trailer, which can be seen below.
The all-star "Rock of Ages" cast also includes Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, "Watchmen" actress Malin Akerman, "Pretty Little Liars" actor Diego Gonzalez Boneta, "Dancing With the Stars" professional Hough, Mary J. Blige and "Breaking Bad" actor Bryan Cranston.
The film is based off the hit Broadway musical which featured classic 80s hair rock hits from bands like Journey, Bon Jovi, and Twisted Sister. The Broadway musical starred "American Idol" alum Constantine Maroulis.
In the movie, Cruise's character is a rock star at the top of his career. The actor will sing Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive," Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and Scorpions' "Rock You Like a Hurricane." He is also a part of other numbers including Foreigner's "I Wanna Know What Love Is" and Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'"
Hough stars opposite Cruise as Sherrie, a small-town girl who catches the eye of Cruise's character. She also falls in love with Boneta's character, Drew Boley, a 22-year-old who moves to Los Angeles, hoping to succeed in the music industry who works as a bus boy in The Bourbon Room.
The film is directed by Adam Shankman, who directed the musical film remake of "Hairspray." It is set for release on June 1, 2012.
