The nominees for the 2012 Golden Globe Awards were revealed on Thursday, December 15.

The film "The Artist" scored the most nods with six nominations and is also up for Best Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical, along with "50/50," "Bridesmaids," "Midnight in Paris," and "My Week With Marilyn."

Sofia Vergara of "Modern Family," actress Rashida Jones and actors Gerard Butler and Woody Harrelson announced the nominees in 25 categories for movies and television at the Beverly Hilton hotel near Los Angeles just after 5 a.m. local time.

Vergara earned chuckles from Harrelson and journalists after she mispronounced names of nominees such as Martin Scorsese, but appeared to take it in stride. The Colombian actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com: "You know what, I think that's why they invited me to do this reading of the nominations, of the names, because they know I'm going to mess it and they want to laugh at me."

Ricky Gervais will return to host the Golden Globes ceremony, which airs live on Sunday, January 15. The winners are chosen by members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Also at the event, actor Morgan Freeman will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement.
