Zac Efron debuted a new tattoo while promoting "New Year's Eve" in Tokyo, Japan.

The fresh ink reading "YOLO" is located on the actor's right hand and stands for the phrase, "you only live once," according to E! Online.

Efron, known for his roles films like "High School Musical" and "Charlie St. Cloud," also has a feather tattoo on his bicep.

The actor is visiting Tokyo to promote the star-studded romantic comedy "New Year's Eve", which opened in theaters on December 9.

Efron will appear next in "The Lucky One," based off the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name. The actor buzzed off his famous hair and bulked up for his role in the film, where he plays a marine that survived three tours of duty in Iraq.

The trailer for "The Lucky One," which can be seen below, debuted last week and shows the 24-year-old actor sporting several fake tattoos in love scenes with his co-star Taylor Schilling.

"The Lucky One" is slated for release on August 24, 2012. Watch the trailer below.
